I have been a board member of the Wednesfield and Fallings Park Local Neighbourhood Partnership since June 2011, and was elected as Chair in December 2012.
The LNP is a council funded organisation whose aim is to improve the lives of local people by involving them in decisions about how services are delivered.
The board is made up local residents and we are supported by the Council Officers.
In their words:
Each LNP (there are 14 across Wolverhampton) brings together public sector organisations like the council, police, local councillors, voluntary organisations, health services, community groups, local businesses and most importantly, local residents. All the partners work together, planning and monitoring the public services delivered to their communities. This gives local people the power to better shape these services to suit local needs.
In the time I have been involved with the LNP it’s been great to have been involved in projects such as: Community First funding panels, Diamond Jubilee celebrations, Wolverhampton North East Job fair, Community Hubs consultations, Bentley Bridge Public Art project and Wednesfield Christmas Lights switch on.
