So it’s less than a week to Christmas. At time this year has seemed so fucking long, and at other times I look back and wonder where all those days went, how things have changed so much, or so little in a year.

The last few days I’ve not done anything particularly special…went out for a very nice meal on Friday for Nicky’s b’day, new curry place called Cumin, very nice and I will be going there again that’s for sure! Saturday kind of passed by uneventfully….watched Villa get beaten by Man Utd. Everyone went to see Narnia in the evening (which I’d seen on Wednesday) so I ended up having a ‘24′ marathon. I ended up watching 6 episodes that are 45 mins long back to back. Then took an hour and a half out to talk to Steph at about 2am….we somehow got onto politics and set the world to rights, then I watched another couple of 24 episodes (it’s just as addictive the second time round!) and finally found my bed around 4am.

I woke up at 1pm on Sunday with a bitch of a headache, not sure if it was too much 24, or too much sleep, but my head was not happy either way. I stayed in bed until about 5pm hiding from the bright lights (just like Gizmo), then wondered out to find the Christmas tree up and the house smelling of pine, which was nice. Although for some reason every light in the house seemed to be on and my head felt like it was about to explode. My Mother was also playing Frank Sinatra at 140 dB, which added to the pain. I ate homemade pizza for tea (mmmm!) and went back to bed about 1am. My body clock was totally screwed by that point, so after tossing and turning for an hour I read some more of ‘Angels & Demons’ (I don’t seem to be able to get through it as quick as Da Vinci, or Digital Fortress – even though it’s better than Fortress) before finally getting to sleep around 3am.

I think I woke up at about 9:30am today when my alarm went off. I think this because I woke up at 10:30am lying on my phone (which I use a an alarm), which was switched off. I *think* it woke me up just before the battery died, I must have hit ’sleep’ and then the battery went completely thus it didn’t wake me up again. I think this is what happened…but needless to say I was up an hour late. Never mind hey?

Today I got rid of LOADS of emails from my inbox – it is an indication of how important technology and indeed email has become to my life that I get such enjoyment of not having a scroll bar down the side of my inbox! If there’s no scroll bar it means there’s less then 30 emails in my inbox and I can tell you now, that doesn’t happen very often AT ALL! Of course the downside to getting rid of all these emails (and in fact replying to them before filing them away) means I’ll soon be inundated with REPLIES to these emails and the war starts all over again! Still, it’s the holidays soon so hopefully some of those bastards will take a while to reply ;-)

Things are hotting up for Imogen’s 2006, lots of stuff being planned – I like it when everything is being planned and I get random emails with cool happenings in them, such as appearances on Letterman, Carson Daly and US and UK tour dates. I’m going to sing about the UK dates from the roof of my house and MAKE people go!

The Deciphers are also very near to completing a new batch of demos, which were sounding great when I caught them mixing on Friday. If Steve’s text is to be believed they’ll be done within 1 hour and 45 mins from now – but we all know what his timing is like. (And if you don’t…well, put it this way – we call it ‘Steve time’ as it’s like no other time you’ve ever known!).

So that’s all good – I am listening to 100 Broken Windows by Idlewild which is also good and I think I might have enough money to pay my tax bill in January so I may not be going to prison after all – hooray!

I have most of my Xmas shopping done now – doing the last few things on Thursday then I have to wrap it all. I fucking hate wrapping. I suck at it. I hate wrapping as much as I do rap music. Maybe even more. Enough whining.

Tomorrow I am going for lunch with Steph and Jordan which should be fun if Jordan doesn’t corrupt my mind with his playground-talk about the female anatomy! And tonight, if the demos DO get finished I think there might be some kind of ‘wrap party’ in a pub to celebrate the end of recording….that or they’re all be pussies and cry off tired. Those three have about 1 rock ‘n’ roll bone in their body sometimes. They need me around to remind them they’re not Hanson sometimes!

And that’s enough rambling for now!

Oh – I am going to do my top albums of 2005 very soon – I started writing it earlier today but ended up sounding like some wanky NME journo (it’s really that easy!), so I’m going to try again soon.

Lover gives stranger $15,000 ring

Posted on Friday, December 16, 2005 in News

From BBC News:

A disappointed lover in the US has left a $15,000 (£8,500) diamond engagement ring in a stranger’s unlocked car, accompanied by a heartfelt message.

“Hopefully this will land in the hands of someone you love, for my love is gone now,” read the note.

The car’s owner, from Westborough, 48km (30 miles) north of Boston, told police about his find after having it valued.

“This appears to be random, but we don’t really know,” police Lt Paul Donnelly told local media.

The three diamond white gold ring enclosed in a box with a white bow was placed in the car which was parked at the train station in Westborough, Massachusetts.

The anonymous message read: “Merry Christmas. Thank you for leaving your car door unlocked. Instead of stealing your car I gave you a present.

“Hopefully this will land in the hands of someone you love, for my love is gone now. Merry Christmas to you.”

Kinda feel sorry for the person who gave the ring away – hopefully this good deed will mean they get some positive karma and find someone else!

I just found a link to THIS – great if you hate Dubya!!! It’s also strangely hypnotic, watching him fall and crash onto the rocks (bubbles) tossing and turning, tumbling down – I guess it sums up his popularity ratings of late?!

If he gets stuck – click and hold on him and drag him around – you can make him do all kinds of stuff!

Commercial Radio Adverts…

Posted on Thursday, December 15, 2005 in Rant.

Aaaarrgghhh!

Need to fuck off and die! They are the single most annoying thing on the planet. ever. Why? Why can no one advertise something on the radio with being cheesy annoying bastards! I have listening to the radio because about 2% of the music played on UK radio is music I like – the rest is crap, but occasionally I like to flick the radio on while I’m making lunch. Unfortunately the only stations worth listening to are Kerrang! and Planet Rock – both of which play good music, but both of which have loads of those bloody annoying adverts! As if they weren’t bad enough 11 months of the year the Christmas ones are fucking awful. Coca Cola can get fucked! As well as all those shitty local companies trying to make funny Christmas jingle – get out of my ears!

Once again I have been forced to bring out the ‘Frustrated Japanese Student’ photo I found on Google for a PREVIOUS POST about frustration. This little Japanese man has served me well.

In other advertising news – the new Honda TV ad is class, keep your eyes peeled for it!
